In August 2006, the Singapore Government announced the decision to import LNG. Subsequently in 2008, BG Group was appointed the LNG Aggregator for Singapore.

2009

30 June


Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) is incorporated to develop, build, own and operate Singapore’s first LNG Terminal

 

2010

8 February


SLNG awards the Engineering, Procurement and Commissioning contract to Samsung C&T Corporation; and the Project Management Consultancy contract to Foster Wheeler Asia Pacific

31 March


SLNG holds Groundbreaking Ceremony to mark the start of construction of the Singapore LNG Terminal.

Terminal Use Agreement is signed between SLNG and BG Group.

Gas Sales Agreements are signed between BG Group and six power generation companies, namely Senoko Energy, PowerSeraya, Tuas Power Generation, Island Power, SembCorp Cogen and Keppel Merlimau Cogen.

The Singapore Government announces decision to accelerate expansion of the Terminal with the construction of a third LNG storage tank

 

2011

21 January


SLNG awards the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract for the third LNG storage tank to Samsung C&T Corporation.

 

4 August


SLNG awards the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract for the Secondary Berth to Samsung C&T Corporation.

 
 

2012

24 October


The Singapore Government announces plan to build a fourth LNG storage tank and associated facilities to boost the capacity of the LNG terminal to about 9 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).

 

2013

27 March


The Singapore LNG Terminal receives its first LNG cargo, which is procured from Qatargas and to be used for the commissioning of the Terminal.

 

7 May


The Singapore LNG Terminal receives its first commercial LNG cargo from BG, and commences commercial operations.

 

29 September


The Singapore LNG Terminal performs its first vessel cool down service, following an agreement signed with MISC Berhad on 25 Sep 2013.

 

2014

25 February


The Singapore LNG Terminal is official opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

 

28 July


The Singapore LNG Terminal receives its first LNG cargo for the Storage & Reload Service from Pavilion Energy.

 

26 August


SLNG awards the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract for the Phase 3 expansion of the Terminal to Samsung C&T Corporation.
