Meet Our SLiNGers: Adrian Ching, Marine Operations Supervisor

Meet Our SLiNGers is a series featuring the faces behind everything at SLNG.

The SLNG Terminal currently operates with two jetties that can accommodate LNG vessels ranging from 2,000 to 265,000 cubic metres in capacity. Meet Adrian Ching, a marine operations supervisor from our Marine Operations team, who oversees jetty activities such as the berthing and unloading of LNG carriers.

Q: Describe your typical work day.

The SLNG Terminal has two jetties which accommodate a wide range of LNG vessels. In my role I oversee jetty operations as well as maintenance activities, ensuring everything runs smoothly and the processes remain efficient and productive. 

Q: What motivated you to pursue a career in marine operations at SLNG?

Mainly the opportunity to enhance my knowledge in LNG operations, with SLNG being the only LNG terminal operator in Singapore. I've previously served in various capacities in offshore ship management and also sailed onboard merchant ships. I've always enjoyed working close to the waters and used to be an avid cold water scuba diver. 

Q: What do you like about your current role?

Continuous learning and upgrading opportunities in my area of expertise, as well as a conducive environment to improve processes and ensure that they are sustainable in the long run. 

The work is fulfilling for me and I feel like the organisation recognises my efforts and contributions. 

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a career in marine operations?

Have an open mind to pursue something different than the norm. Continue to stay curious and ambitious for new adventures so you can build a fulfilling and enriching career for yourself.
