What is LNG?

What is LNG?

01

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) comprises primarily Methane, and is condensed into liquid state by cooling it below its dew point (–161ºC or -260ºF) at atmospheric pressure.

02

When condensed to liquid, its volume is reduced by 600 times which makes it cost efficient to transport over long distances.

03

Burning natural gas produces much lower carbon emissions compared to other fossil fuels, such as oil or coal.

04

Natural gas is available in abundance. According to some estimates, the world’s oil reserves may last for another 50-odd years, while natural gas reserves will last much longer.

05

With advancements in power-generation technology, it is much more efficient to use natural gas to generate electricity than oil or coal. It can also be used to produce heat and electricity simultaneously via cogeneration systems.
