Meet Our SLiNGers: Rose Teo, Process Engineer
Meet Our SLiNGers is a series featuring the faces behind everything at SLNG.
SLNG contributes to Singapore's energy security by ensuring uninterrupted send-out of natural gas for power generation. Meet Rose Teo, a Process Engineer from our Operations team, who troubleshoots technical issues and helps ensure our terminal operations run smoothly and without disruptions.
Q: Describe your typical work day.
My team and I troubleshoot issues that may crop up at the Terminal. I usually start my day with a quick alignment meeting before reviewing trends to ensure everything is operating normally. I also think of ways to improve on the current process operability.
I organise my day using my to-do list of tasks, which helps me to keep focused. Plus it feels extra rewarding to cross them out after completing each task.
Q: What do you like most about working at SLNG?
I really enjoy the freedom to explore ideas on the job. There are always multiple solutions to a problem, and the limitation is really your ideas. The freedom to explore keeps the job feeling fresh and interesting.
Q; What motivated you to pursue a career in engineering?
I've always found interest in creative thinking and problem solving. There's a certain thrill I get when an idea, based on some fundamental technical understanding, works out after implementation. Often the best ideas I've had are those that are surprisingly straightforward.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring engineers?
If you know that engineering is what you enjoy and you have a passion for it, then just go for it! Keep moving forward; even slow progress beats wondering 'what if' for the rest of your life.
