Meet Our SLiNGers is a series featuring the faces behind everything at SLNG.

Meet Low Ying Chun, Senior Manager (Strategy & Analytics), who plays a key role in driving the formulation and monitoring of SLNG’s overall business strategy and plans.

Q: Tell us about your role and describe your typical work day. 

I am responsible for the monitoring of the energy market developments & trends; supporting the
team in the execution of corporate strategies and ensuring regular reporting to the Board and/or
senior management leadership team on overall business performance and business planning activities.

My work day usually starts with browsing through the news to catch up on latest developments and
reading through my emails. Following which, each day is different depending on the issues that need
to be worked on.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about your work?

The opportunity to have a holistic view of the business through interactions with colleagues from different functions. It is one of the few roles that provides opportunities to learn almost everything regarding the company, the business and the people.

Q: Could you share a memorable experience from your time in SLNG?

I have been with SLNG for many years, first as a secondee during the infancy days of SLNG, and subsequently as a full-fledged employee. I have had many memorable moments, but one of the most recent would be the implementation of the Standby LNG Facility (SLF). The timeline was extremely tight and there were many agreements to be finalised (ranging from operational to commercial to financial matters), all while ensuring we obtained the necessary approvals. It really was a whole-of-SLNG effort!

Q: What advice would you give to fresh grads starting their career?

Do not underestimate simple tasks such as taking meeting minutes or scheduling meetings. These are excellent learning opportunities to hone your skills in active listening, organisation and prioritisation.
